New bills may be vehicles to improve the arduous CME requirements for trauma, stroke, and STEMI center designations. A new bill introduced by Representative Haahr allows a hospital to receive designation through an alternative pathway. If the hospital has been certified as a comprehensive stroke center by the Joint Commission, or any other certifying organization designated by the department if such certification is in accordance with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association guidelines, then the Department shall issue the certification.
