Senate Committee Convenes Hearing on Opioids

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee held a hearing to discuss the federal response to the opioid crisis. The witnesses at the hearing included emergency physician Debra Houry, MD, MPH (National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at CDC); Elinore McCance-Katz, MD, PhD (HHS Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use); Francis Collins, MD, PhD (NIH Director); and Scott Gottlieb, MD (FDA Commissioner).
