On Friday, May 11, 2018, President Trump released a blueprint entitled “American Patients First,” which outlined his plan to lower the cost of prescription drugs. On Monday, May 14, 2018, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), followed up with a Request for Information (RFI), which outlines areas for which the Administration will solicit feedback. Comments on the RFI are due on or around July 16, 2018.
Jeffrey Davis, the Director of Regulatory Affairs at ACEP, is looking for stories that show how high drug prices are impacting our patients. For example, there could be situations where patients skip some of their medications (i.e take their medications every other day) due to the high cost of their prescription(s) and develop complications to their pre-existing conditions that force them to the emergency department. Please send stories by Friday, June 29th.
