My first year as executive director has gone by very quickly! I am grateful to all those that have assisted me in getting to know the specialty, and am excited to be a part of it. The MOCEP board and committee members have been very busy with a multitude of issues this year, and a very interesting Legislative Session.
One of the reasons Missouri is such a strong and active Chapter is the support that we receive from ACEP. In April, I attended the executive director orientation at the ACEP offices in Texas. This orientation is designed to introduce new chapter executive directors to the world of emergency medicine, the ACEP staff, and to help us better understand the importance of our roles. I could not have asked for better “tour guides” than Harry Monroe and Angela Moreno. The chapter services staff is top notch and provided us with a whirlwind of information in the day and a half that we were there. It was exciting to learn what ACEP has been working on and some of the new information they will be rolling out in the coming months.
I look forward to continuing my work with the MOCEP board and members. If you are interested in getting more involved, please reach out to me, or a board member, as we are always looking for new committee members. Let us know what your interest areas are, and we will see how we can get you involved and learn more about this great association!
