Action Needed: Contact Congress about the Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

POSTED IN: Advocacy, Featured Advocacy, Forum Topic,

On the Regs and Eggs blog this week ACEP is talking about the 2021 Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule, breaking down how this proposed rule would affect emergency medicine. ACEP sent a letter expressing their grave concerns with the proposed cuts and calling on Congress to waive budget neutrality requirements to avert the cuts that pose a significant threat to EM physicians and the health care safety net. If Congress acts, emergency physician reimbursement could actually increase by about 3 percent, instead of decreasing by 6 percent.

What can you do?

  • Urge your member of Congress to waive the budget neutrality requirement for calendar years 2021 and 2022 by signing on to a bipartisan “Dear Colleague” letter led by Rep. Bobby Rush. Congress is already juggling many other priorities as a result of the pandemic and pressure from the upcoming November elections. It is essential that they hear directly from emergency physicians in their district just how devastating these cuts could be for access to emergency care for patients across the country.  Contact Congress Today
