Action Alert – Testimony Needed

POSTED IN: forum, Forum Topic, Legislative Updates, Missouri,

Dear MOCEP Members,

MOCEP is proud to support important legislation in both the House and Senate that would require a physician to be present in the Emergency Department of all Missouri hospitals with emergency rooms. This legislation is vital to ensuring consistent, high-quality care for patients across the state.

The Senate version of the bill, SB520, is scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, March 26, at 8:00 AM in the Senate Families, Seniors, and Health Committee.

We urgently need 1–2 rural physicians and an equal number of urban physicians to testify in support of this bill during the hearing. It is especially critical that we have rural physicians present to emphasize the importance of this legislation for underserved areas.

Our legislative team will be at the Capitol to support you and will provide all the information you need to prepare for your testimony. Your voice and expertise are essential to demonstrating the real-world impact of this bill on patient care and emergency medicine.

If you are willing to testify or would like more details, please email [email protected], or call 573-636-2144. Together, we can make a strong case for this critical legislation and ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

Thank you for your continued advocacy and dedication to advancing emergency medicine in Missouri.
