Summer 2013: The New Face of MoCEP! Evan Schwarz

POSTED IN: Summer 2013,

After the MoCEP membership survey was completed in 2012 several trends became quite clear: 1) Missouri emergency medicine physicians have very strong opinions; 2) Emergency physicians are quite uneasy about the upcoming changes in health care; 3) Very few of our members were even aware that we had a website. During the MoCEP board of directors strategic planning meeting this year, one of the top established objectives is to improve communication between the association and membership. Based upon this strategic goal and the feedback you provided, MoCEP has started the process of completely redesigning our website.

Based upon your feedback you asked for a mechanism to receive updates on legislative issues in Jefferson City, information on CME, career opportunities, updates on MoCEP research grants, and an opportunity for MoCEP members to discuss issues with each other. In order to meet your expectations, we have contracted with MayeCreate Design (located in Columbia) to immediately begin work on the website.

Based upon our initial meetings, we anticipate that our new website will have the potential to serve as your main resource for emergency medicine related topics in Missouri! During the legislative season, an Advocacy blog will be updated by our staff with automatic postings to Facebook and Twitter to keep you up dated on all of the action in the Capitol. Through this advocacy venue, you will also have the opportunity to directly give us feedback on issues that are important to you.

Under our members’ only section, emergency physicians from across the state will be able to hold discussions from across the state to discuss issues of concern and strategies for success. This section will also contain information on career opportunities in Missouri (including residency positions), and educational resources.

These are only a fraction of the significant changes that you will notice on our website. Based upon our current timeline, we anticipate a go live date in late August. We are very excited about the upcoming changes. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or concerns.
