To keep our members informed, we provide a weekly online forum with alerts about local and national issues. Members also receive a bi-monthly e-newsletter with updates from residents, officers and other MOCEP members. This committee also helps to maintain the website, the online advertising, is in charge of our social media accounts, and pursuing technical needs for the website.
Through the Missouri EMPAC, we can support candidates for the state legislature and re-election of legislators who make decisions on issues that can profoundly impact our specialty and the patients we treat. This committee works closely with our legislative liaison to make decisions on who is a good advocate for emergency medicine and Missouri patients.
This committee plans MOCEP’s annual events including the Advocacy Day, the Missouri chapter reception at ACEP, and the Annual General Membership Meeting.
MOCEP is the managing group in Missouri for the International Trauma & Life Support programming. In addition, we work closely with EMS staff in Missouri to ensure they have the training and regulations needed to provide care to Missouri patients.
MOCEP is proud to offer opportunities for residents and students to expand their knowledge and research in many forms, including research grants and advocacy grants. This committee makes selections for those awards and grants.
As an active advocate of regulations in Missouri, this committee helps to determine what issues MOCEP will pursue on a state and national level. In addition, the committee works to develop resolutions to submit to ACEP’s Council each year.
MOCEP’s membership is constantly growing and the membership committee welcomes new members, and works with national ACEP to recruit new members. Additionally, the committee works with ACEP in the transition process of residents to physicians.
MOCEP’s goal is to assist all Emergency Departments in the state to be ready for pediatric emergencies. The PEM committee was developed to create resources to help EM physicians without a pediatric hospital in their area.
Missouri is a state with many rural areas, and MOCEP wants to ensure those in the rural areas have access to good care when an emergency arises. The Rural EM committee is tasked with creating resources for hospitals in the rural areas.
