Webinar Offers Update on Brain-Eating Ameba

POSTED IN: Forum Topic,

Naegleria fowleri, the “brain-eating ameba,” is a free-living microscopic ameba commonly found in freshwater and soil. It causes a rare, almost always fatal brain infection known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM). This webinar, available from an ACEP chapter grant to the Florida College of Emergency Physicians, reviews the pre-hospital red-flags and clinical guidelines for the diagnosis of PAM. One hour of CME is available free through April 2018.
