RUC Survey for ED E/M Codes

CMS has identified the ED E/M codes as being potentially misvalued and asked for RUC review of those services. ACEP sent out email links to the RUC survey instrument in early March 2018 using a random sample, asking for member help in recommending the appropriate value of the work associated with patient care in the emergency department. It is important to get a good response to this survey to make sure the codes are valued appropriately.

Watch for an email from David McKenzie, ACEP’s Reimbursement Director, with a subject line of “RUC Survey for ED E/M Codes”. If you do receive this email, please complete the survey for all five ED E/M codes (99281-99285) by March 20.**
