POSTED IN: EM Pulse - The Official Newsletter of MOCEP, January/February 2021,
Having spent the last two weeks in frozen temperatures, it is nice to see a thaw begin and the road to a promising spring. Our national vaccination numbers continue to rise combined with a steady decline in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. All of this makes one optimistic about our spring and summer. Here at MOCEP, our optimism shows as we continue to plan for our Missouri Emergency Medicine Symposium on May 27th in Columbia. The MO EMS agenda is full of engaging speakers and we hope to set an example of how to hold a successful in-person meeting safely again. For those not able to make it to Columbia, a virtual option will be available.
The legislative season started up again and the deadline for bill filing fast approaches. At MOCEP, we are keeping an eye on issues important to EM physicians across Missouri including Covid liability and downcoding. MOCEP always hopes to finally see the passage of a statewide prescription drug monitoring program. Leadership is also working hard on making sure any new Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) rules benefit you and does not add additional burdens.
I look forward to seeing many of my colleagues in person at our upcoming educational meeting. In the meantime, stay safe and thank you for all your hard work over this past year.
Sincerely,
Christopher Sampson, MD, FACEP
President, MOCEP
