POSTED IN: 2023 Quarter 2, EM Pulse - The Official Newsletter of MOCEP,

Dear MOCEP membership,

Greetings colleagues and happy summer months. As we get into the time of year where we scatter across the country and globe, I hope all of you find some time to get outside and spend time with loved ones. We all know that the summer months mean trauma season in our EDs so be vigilant and make sure you perform self-care during these busy times!

I want to give you an update on our advocacy efforts both nationally and locally. Seven of our members went to the ACEP Leadership & Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC, at the beginning of May. The main focus of what we lobbied at a federal level were: ED boarding resolutions, violence in the workplace, and a sustainable fix to our pay through CMS. Sound familiar? I thought so. Not only have we been fighting some of these issues throughout our careers, but I think everyone practicing in this state can appreciate the impact of these issues in your personal and professional lives at present. We, as your MOCEP board, continue to lobby for each of you and your patients at the local, state, and federal levels.

It is important for each of us to look out for one another as we get through these busy summer months. Please know that we will continue to advocate for each of you on an ongoing basis. Most importantly, one way to support each other is to get involved! As always, my ask is that if you have any interest in helping to advance our physicians’ and patients’ best interests, reach out to me. We have a place for each of you to help make our voices heard. Thanks again for all you do for your patients, your teammates, your loved ones, and most importantly, yourselves. I hope all of you find some time to enjoy these summer months and know we are here to help you in any way we can. Never hesitate to reach out to me personally.

Sincerely,

Brian Bausano, MD, MBA, FACEP
