At the beginning of June, I attended the EMerald Coast Conference (https://www.alacep.org/education-and-cme/) in Sandestin, Florida. I have been attending this conference since 2015 as both a presenter and attendee and highly recommend this conference put on by Alabama ACEP. The focus of the meeting is on the southeastern ACEP chapters with representation from Kansas to Kentucky to Oklahoma to Louisiana and, of course, Alabama.
The meeting includes not only four days of engaging CME from speakers all over the southeast. If that is not enough, additional afternoon sessions include a high-risk procedure lab, an ultrasound workshop, a pediatric simulation workshop, and an APP bootcamp. The design of the conference is education in the morning with afternoons free to enjoy the beach, golf course or explore the Destin area. Lodging is available at the on-site resort, or multiple other options are within a close drive. Other highlights of the conference include the opening reception on the Bay, wine and cheese poster session, and a golf tournament.
The conference is very family friendly with lots of kids activities on-site in Sandestin or nearby in the area. It is a great opportunity to connect with other EM physicians in the region while enjoying the Florida Gulf Coast. The Alabama chapter appreciates Missouri’s support of the conference and is always looking for new attendees. Next year’s conference is scheduled for June 3-6, 2024. Hope to see you there!
