POSTED IN: 2023 Quarter 4, EM Pulse - The Official Newsletter of MOCEP,

To all:

As we wind down to the end of the year, it is time for celebration, caution, and action.

Thanksgiving has just taken place, and I want to give thanks to each and every one of you. While 99% of America enjoyed having Thanksgiving off to be with loved ones, many of our members continued to sacrifice for the greater good by staffing our EDs across the state. Thank you to those who worked the holiday weekend and to all of you for the significant generosity of your time in doing so. Your efforts are acknowledged and appreciated. In addition, many of you will celebrate a variety of holidays in December and the New Year. I hope each of you finds a moment of serenity and silence to reflect on the hard work each of us has done for our patients in 2023.

As we tread into this winter season, we know that likely we will feel a surge of COVID, flu, and all viruses in between. Please take care of yourselves, mask up to protect yourself, your colleagues, and family members, when appropriate. We will all likely experience a busy winter viral season but know that you are not alone. Thanks again for being on the frontlines and helping Missourians feel just a bit better.

Finally, it is time for action. As another state legislative season starts to ramp up, our most impactful session of the year is upcoming, our Advocacy Day will be February 28, 2024. Please join us in Jefferson City to lobby for changes that impact you, your teammates, and your patients. It is only by showing up in force that we truly make our voice heard. Join us for a great day united with our Internal Medicine colleagues!

Please let me know if we can help you in any way and I wish nothing but the best and brightest holiday season for you and those you love.

Sincerely,

Brian
