Brian Robb, DO, FACEP, Receives MOCEP’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Brian Robb, DO, FACEP, was selected to receive the 2024 Missouri College of Emergency Physicians’ (MOCEP) Lifetime Achievement Award. He was nominated by Louis Jamtgaard, MD, FACEP. The award was presented posthumously to Dr. Robb at the MOCEP Annual General Membership Meeting on April 5, 2024, at the Stoney Creek Inn in Independence, Mo.

Dr. Robb had a long and influential career in emergency medicine. Throughout his nearly 38 years long service, he was President and Medical Director of Liberty Emergency Physicians, Inc. for 28 years and acted as Chief of Staff during that time. He then served as an emergency physician for Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for 8 years. The remainder of his career was ardently dedicated to rural emergency medicine and he practiced exclusively in Albany, MO.

A long-time supporter of MOCEP, Dr. Robb began his membership in 1988. He was highly involved and served on the Board of Directors for many years until 2017 which included a tenure as Vice President in 2008-2010 and as President from 2010-2012.

Dr. Robb passed away unexpectedly on August 18, 2022, at age 64, in Bethany, MO. He was nominated by Dr. Jamtgaard, who described him as a leader, a mentor, and advocate who made emergency medicine better for his patients and fellow physicians; and like many others, will remember him for his warm demeanor, lightheartedness, and positive outlook even in the most stressful situations. 

The MOCEP Lifetime Achievement Award, requires the nominee to be a MOCEP member who has at least 25 years of service to emergency medicine, has devoted their professional life to the improvement of this specialty, and has played an active role in MOCEP.
