POSTED IN: 2024 Quarter 2, EM Pulse - The Official Newsletter of MOCEP,

Dear MOCEP Members,
I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the new President of the Missouri College of Emergency Physicians. My journey with MOCEP began in 2011 when I first became involved as a resident board member while completing my training at Washington University in St. Louis. Since 2014, I have been faculty at the University of Missouri – Columbia and had the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors, most recently as co-chair of the Education Committee.

As I step into this new role, I would like to extend my gratitude to my predecessor, Dr. Brian Bausano, for his leadership and dedication to our organization. His efforts have paved the way for continued growth and success, and I am privileged to build upon the strong foundation he has established.

Joining me in this journey is our newly appointed Vice President, Dr. Kene Chukwuanu, MD FACEP from St. Louis University. Dr. Chukwuanu brings a wealth of experience and a shared passion for advancing emergency medicine in Missouri. Together, we are committed to driving MOCEP forward and making meaningful impacts in our field.

I have identified three key areas of focus that will guide our efforts for the next two years:

  1. Education: Enhancing the educational opportunities for our members is paramount. Our flagship event, the MOCEP Emergency Medicine Symposium, will continue to be a cornerstone of our educational initiatives. We aim to provide cutting-edge knowledge, foster skill development, and promote best practices in emergency medicine through a variety of workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions.
  2. Advocacy: Advocacy remains a critical component of our mission. We will actively engage in promoting access to care, addressing mental health issues, and ensuring appropriate supervision and scope of practice for midlevel providers. Our advocacy efforts will focus on creating a supportive environment that enables emergency physicians to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients.
  3. Membership Growth: Growing our membership base is essential for sustaining our influence and expanding our reach. We will implement strategies to attract new members, retain current ones, and increase engagement across our community. By fostering a strong and vibrant membership, we can amplify our collective voice and drive positive change within the emergency medicine landscape.

I am excited about the future of MOCEP and the opportunities that lie ahead. Together with Dr. Chukwuanu and the entire MOCEP Board, I am confident that we will continue to elevate the practice of emergency medicine in Missouri.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our organization. I look forward to working with each of you and I welcome your feedback.  Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Timothy Koboldt, MD, FACEP
President, Missouri College of Emergency Physicians
