POSTED IN: Legislative Updates,
Dear MOCEP Members,
The ACEP Scientific Assembly was held for the first time in Salt Lake City this year, and it proved to be a strong venue for both education and networking. Prior to ACEP25, your Missouri Councilors and Alternate Councilors participated in the ACEP Council Meeting, where they helped shape national policy through debate and voting on more than 70 resolutions. Topics included physician protections in the ED, Medicaid access, and Naloxone availability.

MOCEP also hosted its annual reception, with over 70 alumni and current members in attendance. We thank our sponsors—University of Missouri – Columbia, SSM/St. Louis University, University of Missouri – Kansas City/Truman Health, and Washington University—for making this event possible.

Looking ahead to 2026, please mark your calendars for two key events:
Both events offer opportunities to stay informed and engaged on issues affecting our specialty.
Finally, we encourage all members to consider contributing to the Emergency Medicine Political Action Committee (EMPAC). Due to new Missouri regulations, we can no longer collect EMPAC donations through your MOCEP dues. EMPAC plays a critical role in supporting state-level candidates who advocate for physician-led care and our legislative priorities. If you haven’t donated recently—or at all—please consider doing so here.
Thank you for your continued support of emergency medicine in Missouri.
Sincerely,
Timothy Kobodlt, MD, FACEP
President, Missouri College of Emergency Physicians
